Reed Grove is located in Jedediah
Smith Redwoods State Park. We started our walk from the parking
area provided on Hwy. 199.
|

|
It's
an easy and well maintained one mile loop trail.
|
||
|
||
|
Rustic
bridges over babbling brooks - welcome sights and sounds along the
way
|
||
|
||
|
The
ferns covering the ground, as well as the diffused sunlight, lent
a softness to the atmosphere. That's me in the red shirt standing
between two of the giant inhabitants of this enchanted forest.

|
I
was fascinated by this tree. I
guess it was a victim of fire or lightening, which hollowed it out
at the base, but left the two parts straddling this path. It's hard
to tell from the picture, but the coloring and designs left by the
fire was breathtakingly beautiful.

|
||
|
Another
example of the tenacity of life - it may be burned, but it is not
fallen!
