There's
no better way to strain your neck than looking up at massive trees.
Mariposa
Grove is a great spot for that! The sign before the entrance
to the grove says "No motorhomes over 23 feet from 9:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. No trailers of any kind. No busses over 40 feet."
During peak season, the parking lot is full most times before 10:00
and it is recommended you take the free
shuttle from the South Entrance or the Wawona Store.

The
drive to the grove whets your appetite for more of these giant specimens.

Sequoias
spread out at the base as they age. This one looked like huge talons
gripping the earth to keep its balance.

Are
you old enough to remember the old style clothespins? That's what
the Clothespin Tree is named for.

These
trees are named "The Bachelor and the Three Graces"

| Grizzley
Giant - the largest tree in the park. There are arguments among experts
as to its age, estimated between 1,800 to 2,700 years old, but unquestionably
he is an ancient being. One of his upper branches is larger than any
other non-sequoia tree trunk in the park. |

For those unable to make
the walk through the grove (most of it is uphill), there is the
Big
Trees Tram Tour that will take you around so you can get to
the major attractions and have the chance for taking pictures. Reservations
are recommended during peak season.
