One of
my favorite RV forums, Open
Roads Singles, had a mini-rally when I was passing through Roseburg
in September, 2005. It was held at Rising River RV Park - a great
setting on the Umpqua River.

I
was lucky enough to get the best site (#44) that fronts the river.
It's also unique in that it has utilities on both sides of the large
site, so you can either back in or head in. I loved how the river
filled my big motorhome windshield!

Here's
the Umpqua looking down the other side of the river - really a beautiful
setting and a great spot for a campfire on a chilly Fall evening.

This
shot shows the nice size of the pull-through sites on the middle
row. I also appreciated the fences between spaces.

| Deer
from the hillsides sometimes stroll through the park, always welcome
guests in my book. |

Malia's
2 cents: I
think what contributed to the overall nice feel of the park
is that the owners, Don and JoEll, started building it themselves
in 1996. JoEll said it feels like her "baby" and still
just loves running it. She laughed when she said one of the
best parts is constantly getting to "pick her neighbors."
They show their neighborliness by sharing produce from the garden
they maintain in the back and giving out honey at Christmas
from the bees that Don keeps. The clubhouse and laundry room
are comfy and clean decorated with a beautiful quilt on the
wall - it doesn't get much better than this! |
