Lake
Ouachita State Park,
home of Arkansas' second largest lake, is surrounded
by the Ouachita National Forest. It is well known for its scenic
beauty and the clarity of its waters. Here you'll find a 40,000-acre
water sports Mecca for swimming, skiing, scuba diving, boating and
fishing. Angling for bream, crappie, catfish, stripers and largemouth
bass can be enjoyed in open waters or shady coves. There are great
campsites for the largest of RVs to the smallest tent. There are
also 7 lakefront cabins that are so popular, they're usually booked
a year in advance.

Historic
Three Sisters Springs is located in the park. During the mid 1880's,
it was generally accepted that there were healing properties to
be found by drinking the water from these springs. Each of these
three were thought to have specific remedies for different ailments
from diabetes to "Catarrh of the Head" - whatever that
is, I don't want it!

Malia's
2 cents: The
most frequently heard feedback from the other campers I met
while here is that they appreciated the clean waters of Lake
Ouachita where there's room for everything you could ever want
to do water-wise, the organized fun activities, and the spaciousness
of the campsites. My experience here made me agree with all
of this and more - all of the staff here were extremely friendly
and helpful, especially Lee Howard, the park superintendent
- and the fine fellow campers I met here were an added perk!
