January, 2007 – When I knew I’d be in the Columbia area for a few months in order to work with my brother, I wanted a park convenient to them and with full hookups. I was a bit concerned when I saw how few RV parks there are in the area. I was really concerned when I saw that the most convenient one for me was located right off Hwy. 1 in back of the Barnyard Flea Market. That just didn’t sound like my kind of place, so I almost didn’t even check it out. I’m so glad I did, because it turned out to be a great place and much better than its location sounds like.
I lucked out and wound up with the best site in the park, in my opinion. G21 is a large, deep set site with a bank of trees on one side and lots of room on the other side between neighbors. The pretty pine trees in the back adds a nice touch, too. I took this picture toward the end of my stay in February, so the grass was in hiding.
This is a shot of Row A, closest to the flea market. This shows how large and long these sites are for even the largest motor homes towing large trailers (of stuff to sell at the flea market?)
I took this picture when I was first checking out the park in September and the greenery improves the total look of the park, I think. It was nice when the leaves were changing, too. The site on the right is A2.
This shot was taken from my site looking down the road toward the flea market. The building in back of the trailer is one of two laundry – shower – bathroom buildings which were always clean whenever I checked. I also appreciated that the price for washing/drying was a very reasonable $1.00.
Malia’s 2 cents: Here’s a good argument for not judging a park by your impression of its location. US 1 is not a huge highway, and the flea market being between the park and the road buffers the noise. Besides, it was fun to go check out the stuff for sale on the weekend! Tessa, the manager, was always a pleasure to visit with and I met some really terrific other RVers here, too. From what I saw then, you just can’t beat this park for convenience when visiting in the Columbia area!
