What is Malia’s Miles About?
My Goal for This Site — Site Layout — Transparency — Subscribe
Why I Started This Site
After I had been on the road for a few years, I noticed I wanted more information than I could find at the time about places I wanted to explore and potential campground home bases. I wanted to see more than the glossy pictures from the campgrounds – I wanted details and differences in loops and sites, what are the best sites and why, and what is interesting to do close by. Since I enjoy collecting and sharing this kind of information, I began Malia’s Miles in 2005. I also like how Maliasmiles all written together could be seen as Malia Smiles. I think that’s pretty cool!
My Goal For It
Whether it’s campgrounds or products we’ve liked or hated, breathtaking scenic spots that we just can’t keep to ourselves – RVers want to talk about it! So I share things that are either technically helpful or incredibly beautiful. I provide my honest reviews of the campgrounds with pictures that show what we really want to know – like how close together the spots are and details like that. Beyond the dry stats, I give my impression of the feel of the place – the kind of things I would like to know before deciding on where I want to live, even if it’s only for a couple of days. Besides campground and RV park choices, I’ll show some of the local activities and RV related businesses nearby.
But my biggest goal since I proved to myself that I could pull off this “crazy” full-time RVing dream of mine – is to inspire other solo women who might be afraid to travel on their own to follow their own dreams, whether it involves travel or not. This is the goal closest to my heart and what makes me the happiest to hear. I always say if I can pull off something this “crazy” with the amount of fear I had at first (and still have at times), anybody can!
My other favorite comment is that my pictures and vivid descriptions of places I’ve been make people want to go there themselves. Just like I appreciate it when fellow travelers who have been-there-done-that before me turn me on to things I ended up loving, I want to pay it forward by returning the favor.
Site Layout-How Do I Find Stuff?
Besides the general navigation at the top, I figured organizing by state makes it easier to find what you want when you need it. Within each state are the locations and attractions seen there with links to them in the right hand column of the page.
If you’re looking for something in particular, use the Search Malia’s Miles box located at the top left on every page.
It’s always a Work in Progress: Feedback always welcome in Comments at the bottom of every page since that’s the only way I know if this site is helpful to you, which is my ultimate goal!
Transparency – Keeping it Honest
One of the ways that help support my travel habit and keeps this site free to readers is by bartering whenever I can. When I do this in exchange for the time it takes to do these detailed pages, I always make it clear that my reviews are my honest opinion, can never be bought at any price and if I wasn’t satisfied, I would also state that (just like I do Pros and Cons on every campground I review, whether it’s bartered or not). I want whoever reads this site to know that I mean what I say and what I write about and what I say will always be my choice alone.
Although I’m just learning about affiliate links, I do have some included, so when you click that link and buy something from it, I get a little commission and it doesn’t cost you anything extra.
Be notified when this site is updated
So as I begin this venture, I hope you will become my traveling partners. I will always welcome your feedback and want to hear of anything else you would like to see here. The site will always be a work in progress and will be expanding as I continue my journey. Comments thrill me, so please chime in with your 2 cents on any page. I’d really appreciate it if you’d subscribe to the site to get notifications when I update or add a page. Choose your subscription option at top right. (Just in case you wonder, no way would I ever share your addresses!) I just love getting feedback and support!
