Class B RVs are built on three different chassis, but the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the Ram ProMaster are the most common. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find Class B RVs built on the Ford Transit chassis because the other two are more prevalent.
Luckily, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Class B RVs built on the Ford Transit chassis, and they still exist! Here are some of the best options when it comes to Ford Transit Class B RVs.
Does Ford Make A Class B RV?
Technically, no. Ford does not make any RVs, Class B or otherwise. Ford does, however, produce the Transit chassis that many different RV manufacturers then use to build Class B RVs and add their own personal touch.
Most of the time, you can’t tell just by looking that something is built on the Ford Transit unless you happen to catch a glimpse of the Ford emblem on the front or the back.
However, these Class B RVs built on the Transit chassis are just as good, if not better, than any other Class B RV out there. Ford makes a quality chassis in preparation for building an RV on top.
List Of Class B RVs That Use Ford Transit Chassis
Now that we’ve established who makes the chassis, we can look at who uses it to build Class B RVs.
There are a few mass-produced Class B RVs that use the Transit chassis, but there are even more companies that do custom conversions.
These companies, if you can find one near you, will take your Ford Transit vehicle and turn it into a Class B RV for you.
1. Winnebago Travato
The Winnebago Travato is one of my favorite Class B RVs. It’s built on the Transit chassis and has a great floorplan with a lot of storage.
The newest model is 21 feet long, sleeps 2, and has 4 cab seats. Plus, it comes in bright red, so you’ll be stylish and really hard to miss at the campground.
The Travato also has one of the best kitchens of any Class B RV with all of the appliances you need to cook at home, and the bathroom is surprisingly spacious for such a small RV.
Full panel windows make it bright and airy inside, so it doesn’t feel quite as small as it is.
There are 4 different floorplans to choose from, so you can pick what works for your from 2 twin beds to a larger bed in the back for two.
You may also want to choose the back bathroom for a more spacious experience.

2. Thor Gemini
The Thor Gemini is another excellent Transit-based Class B RV. It’s a little longer than the Travato at 23 feet.
While it only has 2 cab seats, it can sleep up to 3 people. It also has AWD, so you’ll be able to take it many places you can’t take other Class Bs.
What I love about the Gemini is that it has a ton of storage both inside and out. You won’t be left wanting for closet space in the luxurious bedroom suite and the dinette and kitchen area is dreamy.
There’s an exterior kitchen so you can cook outside, and the interior is very spacious for such a small RV.
This is more of a Class B+, thanks to the extra space, and you can customize the look to your liking by choosing your exterior color scheme, interior decor, and floorplan.
While it does have some occasional issues, overall it’s a fantastic class B RV.
3. Pleasure-Way Ontour 2.2
The new and improved Ontour 2.2 from Pleasure-Way is one of the best Transit Class B RVs on the market.
It’s 23 feet long, has 2 cab seats, and can sleep 3 people. Pleasure-Way is known for their high-quality construction, and the Ontour 2.2 is no exception. The build quality is excellent, and the features are top-notch.
The bedroom suite is very comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook a gourmet meal. The bathroom is also surprisingly spacious for such a small RV.
There’s only one floorplan from which you can choose, but it features a private wet bath, Bose sound system, and rear and side screen doors for an open, airy feel.
Despite not having any slides, there’s a ton of overhead cabinet space and the front-facing sofa folds out into a luxurious bed for two.
It’s also prepped for solar so you can go completely off-grid and still have everything you need.
You can customize every last inch from the exterior and cabinetry colors to the upholstery and countertop finishes.
There’s also an exterior shower, just in case you enjoy the wild outdoors just a little too much.
4. Ford Transit Connect
The Ford Transit Connect is an interesting breed. In fact, the first Ford Transits were cargo vans with sliding doors on each side. Then someone had the brilliant idea to make it into a camper, and people love it.
It’s a great option if you’re looking for a smaller Class B RV. It’s only 17 feet long, it sleeps 1-2 people, and it has 2 cab seats. The side awning also helps to extend your living space to the outdoors.
What I like about the Transit Connect is that it’s very lightweight and easy to maneuver. It’s not much different from driving a passenger vehicle.
Unfortunately, you’ll have to find one of these used, because they don’t make them anymore.
5. Winnebago Ekko
The rugged appearance of the Winnebago Ekko should give you plenty of confidence in its ability to go anywhere.
It’s an off-grid Class B built on the AWD Ford Transit chassis and is incredibly efficient while still offering the capacity of a larger Class B+.
There’s one available floorplan that offers two twin beds with a coveted nightstand in between. Under bed and overhead cabinet storage provide plenty of places for you to pack your things.
The wet bath is huge and the near full-size fridge allows you to bring plenty of food.
There are 4 seatbelts, so you can bring your tent camping friends along, but the flex beds do allow you to sleep up to 4.
The swivel captains chairs and removable table allow you to enjoy a nice meal while there are awnings that allow you to take it all outside when the weather is nice.
It lacks a few of the customization options you get with other Class B RVs, but it’s truly equipped for the most strenuous trip you could take.
6. Coachmen Beyond
The Coachmen Beyond offers several configurations from which you can choose. You can convert the bed in the back to a daytime layout with two sofas and a table or opt for the forward-facing sofa that lays flat to a king bed.
However, you could also choose a rear wet bath, which makes your bathroom even larger than the other floorplans.
There are also plenty of modern finishing choices like tan cashmere decor or high gloss white cabinetry. You can also choose to have an electric awning with LED lights.
The Coachmen Beyond is 22 feet long and has a full kitchen with plenty of storage and counter space. You’ll find that this RV has everything you need and more.
7. Vanlife Customs
This company out of Denver, Colorado, will take your Ford Transit and turn it into a beautiful Class B RV.
This particular company doesn’t have any pre-designed models from which you can choose, so you’ll have to have a vision in mind for your perfect RV.
However, they do have a gallery of past designs so you can get inspiration from these before you have them build it. One particular model from 2020 includes an extending roof to give you more head space inside.
They also have some used van inventory you can look at or purchase if you don’t want to wait for a custom design.
Their custom designs feature innovative use of the space to offer you even more function and utility than a pre-made Class B RV.
8. Vandoit Adventure Vans
This company is in Blue Springs, Missouri and is known for its rugged designs. They currently have two pre-designed models.
The Liv is a complete buildout and the Do offers a more basic design. However, you can customize the interior in any way you choose.
Their process is simple and requires only a 10% downpayment to draw up the first phase of your plan. They even equip their vans with durable hydraulic bed lifts so you can raise your bed up out of the way during the day.
The truly unique thing about this company is that you can also rent their camper vans, which is perfect when you’re not sure whether you want to make the investment or not.
9. ModVans
This Ventura, California-based company’s purpose is to make modern, modular, multipurpose vehicles for the adventure-seeker. The CV1 is their flagship model and it comes in two different floorplans.
The first is the Weekender, which includes a queen bed in the back that converts to a lounge area during the day with seating for 4.
The second is their Daily Driver, which has an L-shaped couch/bed in the back that transitions to a table and 2 bench seats.
Both of these floorplans have a full kitchen with a refrigerator, two-burner stove, and plenty of storage. The CV1 is also 22 feet long, so you’ll have plenty of space inside, and some even have two full beds.
10. Blue Ridge Adventure Vehicles
This company out of Fairview, North Carolina, will take your Transit and turn it into a beautiful Class B RV. They have several different models to choose from, each with their own unique floorplan.
The Blue Ridge has 12 different floorplans, so you’re sure to find one that fits your needs. You can choose from a wet bath or dry bath, rear lounge or front lounge, and even a model with a murphy bed.
They also have plenty of modern finishes like LED lighting, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. You can also choose from a variety of different exterior colors.
While you can still customize your build somewhat, they are moving away from completely custom builds and requiring customers to choose from one of their base models to begin with.
Are Ford Transits Good For Camper Conversions?
Yes, Ford Transits are excellent vehicles for camper conversions. They are large enough to provide plenty of space inside, yet small enough to be easy to drive and maneuver.
Transit vans also have a reputation for being reliable and durable, which is important if you’re living in your RV full-time.
Plus, there are plenty of companies that specialize in Transit camper conversions, so you can find one that fits your needs and budget.

There are a few different places you can look for Ford Transit Class B RVs for sale. You can search online classifieds websites like Craigslist or RVTrader.com.
You can also check with companies that specialize in Transit camper conversions, like Vanlife Customs or Vandoit Adventure Vans. Finally, you can also find Transits for sale at dealerships that sell RVs and campers.
