December 29, 2012 – This was the first trip in the RV I was able to take with both my daughter, my granddaughter, and 5 year old great-grandtwins – and this was the perfect park for it! Not only was it close to where the rest of my visiting family was staying at a local hotel, but the park itself was fantastic for both adults and kids.
Here’s the entrance to the park from Fairview Drive.
An intriguing private home across the river as seen from the road leading to the back campground.
The moss-draped trees are some of the most enchanting creatures living here. The road on the left leads to the back campground.
Dreamy sunset at the back campground by the boat docks along the river.
On the park grounds is the Otis House, originally built in the 1880’s and renovated in the 1930’s by Frank Otis, who donated it to the State of Louisiana as a recreational site for visitors. It’s open for tours with tickets available at the park entrance.
But you don’t need a ticket to picnic on the grounds by the river.
